The application was developed for one leader of the Out-Of-Home media market. It is an ASP.NET web-based application that could be run on information kiosks. The solution is composed of the following modules:
- Content management module. Part of the administrator area. The functionality allows creating content and distributing it to remote terminals. Multilanguage support. XML, DHTML and Javascript were heavily used.
- Handy-Upload module. Developed ActiveX component allows downloading media files from a kiosk to mobile devices via Bluetooth, Infrared port or USB. A set of OBEX protocol’s commands were implemented for the communication with mobile devices.
- Media Email and VoIP. Allows sending photos, videos, voice mails or make phone calls. Some third-party components were successfully integrated into the system.
- Hardware controller. Helps to manipulate with various built-in kiosks’ hardware devices such as ID card reader and shutter.
The user interface was designed for controlling the application by a finger.
